~ student dr ~53 views* These houses along Student Dr are not considered as part of the Oak Crest neighborhood. They are not located within the original Oak Crest boundries.

Student Drive was created in the mid 1960's by Paul Hauser. It was a private drive that extended behind Mr Hauser's home on Polo Rd and contained about a dozen small houses like the ones shown in this album. They were used as rental houses for Wake Forest students. After Mr Hauser's death in ____, the property was sold in the mid 1980's to ...... Then WFU purchased the property in 1987. Eventually the little houses were demolished and the property is now a large parking lot.

Since the houses along this street was intended to be student housing, Mr Hauser appropriately named it Student Drive.

Please note: The houses shown on this album page are not the actual houses that were on Student Dr. Mr Hauser had similar houses on Polo Rd and Friendship Cr which I have copied here to serve as an example of the type of houses that once stood here. I remember that they were all on this same scale and had slight variations such as which side the carport was located; and some did not even have a carport. I believe that all of the houses that Mr Hauser built had full basements with two garage stalls.

I will try to locate some of his family members to gather more history of the Hauser family and also for some vintage photos.
